Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue

The Central MS Turtle Rescue was founded in 2013, born from the passion and dedication of two people who recognized the need for a qualified turtle rescue facility in Mississippi. They provide rescue and rehabilitation for injured, sick, abused, neglected, or abandoned turtles and tortoises.

Their goal is to release all native, wild and rehabilitated turtles back to their natural environment. Turtles that are not native to MS or are unable to be released to the wild are re-homed through adoption to qualified applicants or remain in their care to safely live out their lives. They also provide education to the public about turtle conservation, and provide pet turtle owners with education about proper husbandry, diet, and medical care.

Winter and Spring storms took a toll on a few of their greenhouse structures. The only one not damaged was the one they changed over to a "hardtop" last year. They would like to convert all of them to "hardtop" structures for better durability.

They are also taking in record numbers of turtles this year, many of these being box turtles. They only have a handful of outdoor box turtle enclosures, so many more enclosures are needed.

These two projects are their top priority for 2022, but just like anything else, it's going to take money to make them happen. This year's fundraising efforts will be focused on those two projects which will help them provide better, safer, and more natural habitat for the turtles in their care. Any little amount helps, so if you're able to help make sure to donate today:
