Stokes Nature Center
The Allen and Alice Stokes Nature Center (SNC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1997. Additionally, as the official educational permittee of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and the USDA-designated Logan Canyon Children’s Forest, it provides inclusive programs for the people of Cache Valley.
Moreover, their mission is to deliver engaging nature education and encourage meaningful outdoor exploration. Finally, guided by a vision that people of all ages value and care for the environment, the center works to inspire stewardship, curiosity, and lasting connections with the natural world through accessible, hands-on experiences that foster learning, inclusion, and respect for local ecosystems and future generations alike.
First, located near the mouth of Logan Canyon, Stokes Nature Center offers scenic trails, free exhibits, and seasonal programs for all ages. Next, visitors can hike, explore nature, and enjoy family-friendly activities like Nature Tales and workshops. Additionally, the center also provides year-round educational programs, camps, and community events, creating opportunities for learning, recreation, and connection with the natural world in every season.
In addition to community programs, the Nature Center features several events throughout the year, including concerts, trivia nights, and also literary readings. Furthermore, they also offer naturalist-guided hikes and experiences, offering a closer look at the Cache National Forest and Logan Canyon.
Their mission is to provide nature education and promote outdoor exploration of our natural world for people of all ages.

Community Programs
The Nature Center's educators lead fun educational programs that provide an in-depth look at their local ecosystem. Visitors learn about Logan Canyon, their National Forest, and the natural world through hikes, workshops, and also hands-on experiences for every learner. Their programs are overseen by their director, Kate Hunter, PhD candidate, ensuring high-quality educational experiences.
Elementary students are invited to explore the natural world at the Nature Center and other locations in the National Forest through their Science with Engineering Education (SEEd)-aligned programs. Programs are available for children from kindergarten through 6th grade. Overall, these opportunities support early engagement with science and the environment.
