Coral Restoration Foundation

This month, Wild Boyz Photography has decided to support Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF).  This nonprofit is based in Key Largo, Florida. Ken Nedimyer, a longtime resident of the Florida Keys, founded the Coral Restoration Foundation back in 2007.  The full story of the origins of CRF is an interesting story. Read more about Ken’s story here.

“Coral Restoration Foundation™ (CRF) is the world's largest non-profit marine-conservation organization dedicated to restoring coral reefs to a healthy state, in Florida and globally.”

Coral Restoration Foundation

Based in Key Largo, Coral Restoration Foundation is dedicated to restoring coral reefs.

CRF’s mission is to “restore coral reefs, to educate others on the importance of our oceans, and to use science to further coral research and coral reef monitoring techniques.”  CRF not only grows coral in their off-shore nurseries, they also plant the corals on the reef, and monitor their health.  They currently work with over 300 genotypes. On top of all this, CRF does dive programs for groups, educational outreach, and scientific collaborations.  In June, CRF even has an event called Coralpalooza, where boats from throughout the Florida Keys head out on the water to plant as much coral as possible.

Over the years their staff and volunteer base has grown exponentially.  It’s great to see this organization grow and take on an international presence.  Matt remembers volunteering when they only had 3 people on staff.

Wild Boyz Photography is proud to partner with Coral Restoration Foundation.  Learn more about CRF here.
