Guest Gallery: Bruce Leander

With this month's gallery being our first wildflower gallery, we thought it only made sense to bring back Bruce Leander as a featured photographer. He brought us some amazing photos when we featured the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in our first year. Check out these great photos by Bruce!

Chocolate Flower Live

Chocolate flowers are also known as chocolate daisies. Native to North America, these flowers are part of the sunflower family. In places were the soil doesn't freeze, this flower will bloom the entire year!

Cardinal catchfly

This photo is of a pair of cardinal catchfly flowers. The petals of this flower can grow to be up to 4 inches long.

Lizard tail

Lizard tail flowers are also known as dragon's tails and swamp roots. They are native to the land east of the Rockies in the USA. This plant is a common food of beavers, which makes sense since the flowers are found in wetland areas.

Fall purple aster

The scientific name for purple aster is Symphyotrichum patens. These flowers bloom beginning in August and last through October.
