Kentucky Association for Environmental Education

The Kentucky Association for Environmental Education is  one of the country’s oldest associations supporting environmental education and the first affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education. KAEE includes people from all walks of life--teachers, administrators, government and agency personnel, business and industry representatives, and private citizens. KAEE works with members and partners to bring sound environmental education to all Kentuckians. KAEE works to ensure that education about the environment will be taught in every classroom in Kentucky.

Environmental education (EE) provides the skills necessary for people of all ages to make intelligent, informed decisions about the environment and how they can take care of it. EE builds human capacity, influences attitudes, and can lead to action. Most importantly, it can help people make informed decisions about the environment that lead to lifelong stewardship and a more sustainable society. KAEE has served as Kentucky's leader in environmental education since 1976, promoting and influencing envvironmental education on nation and statewide levels each day.

KAEE's Work

The vision of Kentucky Association for Environmental Education is a sustainable world where environmental and social responsibility drive individual and institutional choices. They work to accomplish this through the many educational programs that they provide.

eeCredentials

KAEE What We Do

The eeCredentials program is designed to provide online, easy-to-access, and ongoing professional development opportunities for environmental educators. Think of an eeCredential as a micro-credential or a certificate that can be earned by completing a series of courses, designed to increase your knowledge and skills in a certain area. eeCourses are the building blocks for earning eeCredentials. They offer the eeCredentials program on a schedule of spring, summer, and fall terms. The eeCredentials program and courses were designed with flexibility in mind. Someone can earn eeCredentials over time, whether they register for one eeCourse or four during a semester, KAEE encourages people to build a schedule and workload that fits your life and availability.

KAEE offers a variety of conservation and environmental education workshops to both formal and non-formal educators. Workshop participants typically include PreK-12 teachers, college faculty, camp leaders, home school educators, zoo and park staff, natural resource professionals, pre-service teachers, and anyone with an interest in environmental education. Participants attend workshops 3-6 hours in length or more and leave with activity guides and resources for bringing environmental education to their students.
