Loveland Learning Garden

The foundation for Loveland Learning Garden was planted in 2002 as a floral garden on grade school grounds thanks to the vision of a grandmother who wanted to share the joy of picking fresh flowers with children. With the addition of vegetable gardens and a nature trail in the woods behind the school, Granny’s Garden School grew to be one of the most comprehensive school garden programs in the country and was recognized as a model for nature-based education training.

Loveland Learning Garden maintains vegetable and flower gardens, and a nature trail on school grounds as spaces for hands-on learning – serving about 1200 primary and elementary students. Through observation and fun, interactive activities, students engage with nature’s elements (plants, animals, land, air) while exploring academic subjects they are learning in class..

As part of our mission, the Loveland Learning Garden:

-Provide children with the opportunity to see how food is grown.

-Serve the community by harvesting food for donation.

-Share the joy and wonder in outdoor discovery.

-Instill a love of nature and influencing the growth of the next generation who loves and cares for our environment.

The mission of Loveland Learning Garden: foster lifelong connections to the wonders of the natural world.
