Missouri River Relief

Missouri River Relief was founded to engage individuals and communities along the Missouri River in the exploration, enjoyment, restoration and care of the river through education, stewardship, and recreation.

Missouri River Relief emerged organically from a group of people in mid-Missouri who simultaneously recognized the need for engaged stewardship of the Missouri River and the desire of citizens to take part in watershed solutions.

Before it was an organization, Missouri River Relief was one event in one place – a river clean-up based in tiny Easley, MO, on the banks of the Missouri River in October 2001. Nobody knew at that time what Missouri River Relief would become, but they already knew it would be more than one clean-up effort.

Since then, a growing Crew of Missouri River Relief volunteers and staff have conducted 203 river cleanups, cleaning up 1,013 tons of trash, and creating a strong community of 29,799 volunteers!

Missouri River Education

Missouri River Day

Discover the Missouri River through experiential, place-based educational programs that connect students and teachers to the Missouri River. During Missouri River Days, students will leave their lab coats and pocket protectors behind; to do science, Missouri River Relief style. They will investigate the mysteries behind the longest river in North America and learn what makes it tick.

Missouri River Relief cleanups bring together hundreds of volunteers to work together to remove tons of trash from the banks, forests and floodplains of the Missouri River. These efforts build community, give people a deeper relationship to the river and leave our world a better place.
