Nebraska Wildlife Rehab
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, Inc. (NWR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Omaha, Nebraska. Operating from a new, state-of-the-art Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, NWR is dedicated to rehabilitating native Nebraska wildlife and migratory birds for return to the wild, preserving and restoring native habitats, and inspiring youth and adults to protect the natural world around them.
NWR is a team of professional wildlife rehabilitators licensed under permits from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, working alongside veterinarians and other specialists. Each year the organization provides care across a remarkable range of species and answers thousands of calls from the public seeking help for wild animals in need.
Most of the injured and orphaned animals NWR receives arrive because of human actions — which is why education sits at the heart of everything they do. By helping people understand wildlife, NWR works to prevent unintentional harm and to build a community that coexists with the wild neighbors all around us.
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab's mission is to rehabilitate native Nebraska wildlife and migratory birds for return to the wild; to preserve and restore native habitats; to educate youth and adults about the importance of wildlife and ecosystems by engaging them in projects and activities that contribute to the well-being of our natural environment and inspire them to take action to protect it; and to support others engaged in similar projects and activities.

The following are a couple highlights of the impactful work of the Nebraska Wildlife Rehab.
Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation
This program offers medical care and rehabilitation for injured, sick, and orphaned native wildlife and migratory birds, with the goal of returning healthy animals to the wild.
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab offers a High School Science Academy, wildlife rehabilitation internships, veterinary student externships, internships for practicing veterinarians, afterschool clubs, and speaker presentations for community groups.
Environmental Education
Human-Wildlife Coexistence
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab works on prevention and humane solutions for conflicts between people and wildlife, including guidance on issues such as avian influenza.
