PangeaSeed

PangeaSeed was founded in 2010 as an innovator in the ocean conservation movement. They leverage the influence of contemporary art and the power of creativity to raise awareness about urgent environmental threats. They produce impactful art that communicates ocean narratives in communities. This helps to increase ocean literacy and empathy. Their work has also cultivated a global netword of advocates dedicated to ocean conservation.

The issues affecting oceans are global in scale and PangeaSeed believes that radical collaboration is key to meeting these challenges head on. By uniting and amplifying creative voices from cross the planet, they have a unique opportunity to share culture, both past and present, learn from one another, and utilize those voices to bring about positive change. Together, we are an ocean.

They are developing the world’s first network of artists and marine scientists mutually passionate about protecting our oceans. For every single one of their art-based projects, they leverage this network to create a collaboration point, ensuring that their work is grounded in sound, data-driven, ocean science.

PangeaSeed delivers purpose-driven work that addresses their four Priority Ocean Challenges: Climate + Ocean, Overfishing, Pollution + Plastics, and Coastal Development. Their projects scale from fine art prints, large-scale public murals, experiential installations, sculptures, youth workshops, and beyond. They are always exploring new media to give the oceans a creative voice.

Through the Impact Program, PangeaSeed facilitates collaborations between researchers and artists on creative projects that elevate, amplify, and communicate ocean research and conservation initiatives. Impact projects aim to bridge common gaps in scientific understanding and accessibility by leveraging the transformative power of art.

Printed Oceans is PangeaSeed’s fine art print program that raises awareness and educates about pressing marine environmental issues through the lens of some of today’s most respected creative minds.

Since 2012, they have released over 350 original fine art print editions highlighting endangered marine species and threatened ocean habitats. These stunning handcrafted editions help bring important conservation stories into homes, classrooms, and workspaces worldwide, creating critical dialogue and inspiring positive action for ocean conservation.

Open Call for Cities

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=

Over the last decade, PangeaSeed has produced over 500 ocean advocacy murals in 20 countries across the globe through their pioneering public art program, Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans. By collaborating with diverse community organizers, artists, and environmental advocates, they’ve told compelling visual stories about pressing marine environmental issues in locations as far-flung as the polar bear capital of the world and the coral triangle.

Building on this remarkable experience and track record, they’re now excited to invite cities worldwide to respond to PangeaSeed’s RFP (request for proposals) and apply to bring PangeaSeed’s expertise and unique interdisciplinary approach to their community.

By working with the team at PangeaSeed, cities can realize creative placemaking initiatives that integrate climate action and sustainability commitments with their public art strategies to cultivate vibrant, engaged, and ocean-minded communities.
