Piedmont Wildlife Center
Bobby Schopler started Piedmont Wildlife Center in 2003 to conserve native animals and promote wilderness relationships. Recognizing that education is the foundation for helping these wild creatures thrive the organization shifted its focus to education and conservation. They began organizing youth camps and outreach initiatives, as well as participating in a study of the Eastern Box Turtle.
Piedmont Wildlife Center has grown into a community devoted to helping people connect with wildlife. This begins with hands-on experiences from an early age. Through their Ambassador Animals and other educational activities, the Piedmont Wildlife Center hopes to link people with the environment, fostering a healthier, more sustainable world.
Piedmont Wildlife Center's educational animals act as ambassadors for their own species. All of their ambassadors have found permanent homes at PWC after being rescued or surrendered by their former owners. All of the raptors at the center were recovered after suffering severe injuries, however, they were ruled unreleasable due to their inability to fly. Each ambassador has a valuable lesson to share about animal protection. Their experiences motivate everyone who meets them to take action to safeguard our environment and the creatures that dwell there.
The PWC's mission is to promote conservation and encourage people to establish deep connections with the environment.

Tours and Experiences
The tours and experiences in PWC are designed with small groups in mind, offering the perfect outing for scout groups, families, friends, corporate wellness outings, or mini retreats. As you explore the park, you'll discover a disc-golf course, trails, and a large field for picnics or exploration before or after your program, making it an ideal destination for a day immersed in nature. One of their signature experiences is the On The Fly Tour, where you'll meet all seven species of raptors that call PWC home. This encounter is not only educational but also impactful, as it helps raise awareness about these magnificent birds and their conservation. Another unique experience is the Turtle Trek, where participants assist in PWC's box turtle research project.
Piedmont Wildlife Center's dedication to connecting the youth with the natural world is remarkable. Their camps provide enriching experiences for children, such as touring parks and meeting native animals, giving them amazing opportunities to learn and grow. The range of activities, such as woodland games and stream crawling, assures that each camper will find something to like. Piedmont Wildlife Center has a commitment to inclusion, which involves scholarships so that all children, regardless of socioeconomic circumstances, may benefit from their activities.
