Rock Hollow Woods

Our nonprofit of the month is the Rock Hollow Woods Environmental Learning Center. Rock Hollow Woods is located in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania. This 77 acre nonprofit learning center is dedicated to providing children with opportunities to discover nature, learn about the natural world about them, and learn how to protect the environment.

Jean McCarney, James McCarney, Janemarie McKay, and William McKay began teaming up in 2008 to provide seasonal programs to children about the environment. The nonprofit was formally founded in 2012. Rock Hollow Woods is a place where children can play outside and enjoy the natural environment. Driven by volunteers, the organization now offers numerous programs throughout the year.

Rock Hollow Woods' mission is to provide children with outside opportunities to discover and learn about the natural world and empower them to protect their environment.

In today's world children are spending more and more time in front of screens. It is estimated that children eight to eighteen are engaged with some form of electronic medium for more than 7.5 hours a day. Rock Hollow Woods is dedicated to providing them an avenue to explore nature that is disconnected from the digital world. Find out more about their programs below.
