The Nature Museum

The Nature Museum was opened in July of 1989. Since the beginning, The Nature museum has been dedicated to educating the community on the natural world around us. It moved locations in 1996 to its current location in the Grafton Grange building in Grafton, Vermont. As it has continued to grow, they now offer more programs including: summer camps, school trips & programs, adult & family workshops, the Bellows Falls Fish Ladder Visitor Center, the Magic Forest Playscape, and the annual Fairy House Festival.

The gardens that surround the museum allow its guests to explore native plants, insects, and a frog pond. Behind the museum are the Trails of the Village Park, a wooded trail system where visitors can explore the woods. Key to their community outreach and fundraising, each year The Nature Museum hosts the Fairy House Festival. It's coming up on September 25th and 26th. Bellows Falls Fish Ladder

The Bellows Falls Fish Ladder and Visitor Center is staffed by the employees of The Nature Museum. It's open throughout the summer from 10am to 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Come visit to explore the fish ladder from above or from a special viewing station within the Visitor Center.

Each year The Nature Museum puts on the Fairy House Festival. Through the hard work of their amazing volunteers a whimsical fairyland is created for visitors to explore. The fairy houses are all small structures that are built of natural materials. The creations help to open everyone's imagination and sense of exploration within the natural world around us.
