Wisconsin Wetlands Association

The Wisconsin Wetlands Association is a non-partisan, science-based professional organization advocating for wetlands in Madison, Wisconsin. The organization focuses on advancing wetland conservation and providing tools and expertise to help others protect, manage, and restore wetlands. The Wisconsin Wetlands Association actively engages in opportunities to advance wetlands as a solution to critical water management concerns at a watershed scale in ways that can be adapted across Wisconsin and beyond.

The organization's membership of over 1,700 is a diverse community of wetland supporters statewide and beyond. Members of the Wisconsin Wetlands Association include scientists, landowners, hunters, nature enthusiasts, zoning board members, farmers, paddlers, restoration specialists, and more.

The Wisconsin Wetlands Association envisions a state in which our wetlands are healthy and plentiful and support ecological and societal needs, and where citizens care for, appreciate, and interact with these natural resources. Through collaborative, science-based work, they will continue to help people and communities protect, care for, and enjoy Wisconsin’s wetlands for years to come.

Wetland Coffee Breaks

The Wetland Coffee Break series helps keep the Wisconsin Wetlands Association community connected and learning about wetlands throughout the year, from anywhere! The series provides members with the opportunity to learn about wetlands, the plants and animals that call them home, and the many natural benefits they provide to our communities. The sessions are held on Zoom and include a feature time for audience Q and A. Each presentation is recorded and published to the Wisconsin Wetlands Association Website, so you can watch any that you miss live.

The annual Wetland Science Conference is a program of the Wisconsin Wetlands Association. This 3-day conference, which draws nearly 400 attendees annually, includes plenaries, organized symposia, topical oral sessions, a poster session, working groups, roundtable conversations, workshops, and field trips to area wetlands, all of which provide great networking and learning opportunities. Scientists and other professionals of the wetland and water community of Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest share research, assessment approaches and techniques, and the latest in wetland science and protection issues.
