This photo is from the Samana region in the Dominican Republic. Last year, a friend and I dug holes for septic systems up in the remote mountainous areas in the northeastern part of the country. These septic systems help reduce disease spread.
One day when we were taking a break, I noticed this large moth on a glass window. I went to the opposite side of the glass window as the moth, and this allowed me to get my camera right up against the glass. I like this photo because you can see the interesting detail of the moth’s eyeballs.
Did you know that some moths are pollinators? Did you know that some moths do not have mouths? Did you know that some moths migrate? Well now you know!
You can see the detail of the moth's eyeballs
