This is a photo of a chestnut moray eel. The photo was taken in West Palm Beach, Florida. Many divers are familiar with Blue Heron Bridge in West Palm Beach. It is a top tier shore dive. And unfortunately, that is no longer a secret. Divers travel from all over to dive under this bridge in 20 feet of water. I can attest to the wild creatures that hangout here, both during the day and at night. When diving here, divers are limited to diving at high slack tide. Shortly after the tide changes, currents pick up and the visibility drops off.
Recently there has been some exciting news about this dive site. It is now illegal to harvest or possess aquarium species here. This is a huge win for divers and for the environment. It’s great to see this unique place protected going forward.
