CNPC has worked for three years studying signage and behavior around dog waste in the park
During 2020, the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy (CNPC) has worked toward completion of two projects which have been under development for three years. Recognizing that dog waste is the second most common contributor to fecal contamination in the Chattahoochee River, CNPC has worked for three years studying signage and behavior around dog waste in the park, culminating in installation of 37 new dog waste stations with new colorful "Lead the Pack" signs.
We are also in the completion stages of a project to rehabilitate the trail and improve signage on seven miles of multi-use trails in the Cochran Shoals Unit of CRNRA that are heavily used by mountain bikers, trail runners, and walkers. Our partners REI and MTB Atlanta have been instrumental in planning, funding, and executing this trail improvement project.
