Like with most things in life, timing is critical.
This is a photo of a juvenile American Lobster riding on the back of a nudibranch. To provide some scale, this white “shag-rug” looking nudibranch is only about one centimeter long. The lobster is about the size of a grain of rice. I took this photo off the Isle of Shoals in Maine.
The Isle of Shoals are a small group of islands that sit about six miles off the coast. During this dive, I remember it being particularly rough. I was swaying with the surge of the waves, when I came across this nudibranch. Like with most things in life, timing is critical. I got lucky and was able to get a couple photos before the rough conditions buried this interesting find.
