This photo is from a 2018 solo hike. On this day, I was descending from Mt. Lafayette in the White Mountains. Mt. Lafayette is in the Franconia Range, my favorite area of the White Mountains. On a clear day the views are hard to beat. The Franconia Ridge Trail is part of the Appalachian Trail (AT), so many people can attest to its beauty. Mt. Lafayette is the tallest mountain in the Franconia Range at ~5,200'.
There's no better feeling than the home stretch of a long hike. Especially in the winter, when the sun is on the other side of the mountain by 3 PM and it starts getting dark. In this photo, I got lucky, and the sunset was centered in the pine tree tunnel.
