As the sun rises, the light beams start to peak through the trees
There’s nothing like hitting the trail early in the morning, while it’s still dark. Hiking with a headlamp until the sun comes up. I enjoy getting on the trails early, primarily to take advantage of the good lighting for photography. I also like getting on the trails early because it is deafeningly quiet. All you can hear is your own breathing and heartbeat. Also, the bugs tend to not be an issue in the mornings. And other hikers are still in bed, so no crowded trails. Need any other reasons to do sunrise hikes?
I took this sunrise photo at the base of Mt. Garfield in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. As you begin hiking in the dark, all you see is your headlamp looking down a tree tunnel for as far as the light reaches. As the sun rises, the light beams start to peak through the trees. Depending on what side of the mountain you are on, will depend on when you see this. This sunrise shot was taken in September, just before the fall foliage kicked in.
